Insurance, transport, shipping and traffic
Dr Inken von Gadow has been a judge since 2006 at the Hamburg Administrative Court, in various Divisions at the Regional Court of Hamburg, the Higher Administrative Court of Hamburg and at the Higher Regional Court of Hamburg. Dr von Gadow is the presiding judge of the 6th Civil Senate of the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court, which is responsible for transport, shipping and arbitration matters. The Senate is also responsible for disputes arising from transport insurance contracts and performs the function of the Higher Shipping Court. She is a member of the board of the Foundation for the Promotion of the Institute for the Law of the Sea and Maritime Law at the University of Hamburg and a member of the board of trustees of the International Foundation for the Law of the Sea (IFLOS).
Dr Nicolas Hagge has been appointed as a judge in 2006 after having worked for several years as a lawyer in Hamburg specialising in transport, shipping and trade law. He is a member of the 6th Senate of the Higher Regional Court of Hamburg responsible for, i.a., disputes in transport, shipping and arbitration matters as well as related insurance contracts. Dr Hagge is a board member of the German Association for Transport Law (DGTR) and the German Association for International Maritime Law (DVIS). In 1999 he received an LL.M. degree in Maritime Law and International Trade Law from the University of London (UCL). Dr Hagge regularly acts as a mediator at the Higher Regional Court.
After working as a lawyer for several years, Christoph Hütteroth joined the Hamburg judiciary in May 2007. After holding various positions at the District Court of Hamburg and the Regional Court of Hamburg, he was appointed as a judge at the Higher Regional Court of Hamburg in November 2018. Since then, he has been a member of the 9th Civil Senate, which is responsible in particular for insurance law matters. Mr Hütteroth holds a Master of Laws in International Business and Trade Law from Fordham University and is admitted to the New York Bar (deemed suspended while serving as a judge).
Dr Markus Brauer has been a judge in Hamburg since 2006. Since 2019, he is a member of the 11th Civil Senate of the Higher Regional Court of Hamburg, specialising in corporate and insolvency law. Previously, he practiced in transport and maritime law, as well as in competition, trademark, patent, and copyright proceedings.
